Guaranteed Interview – Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost companies?
The program is entirely free. There never will be a charge for partnering in the program.

What are the risks to the company? What if this initiative fails to succeed? Will they look bad?
Companies are entitled to offer an interview to anyone they wish, so there is no legal risk. We have also de-risked the program by emphasizing to the veteran that the employer decides which candidates are qualified, and that a veteran not chosen for an interview should move on to the next partner in the program. Finally, the program cannot fail as long as partnering companies continue to live up to their side of the agreement.

How many interviews do we have to give?
By joining the program you agree to guarantee at least one veteran qualified for your job posting an interview. If you wish to interview more you are welcomed to do so.

Do I have to interview unqualified candidates just because they are veterans?
No. You as the employer decide if the candidate is qualified for your job posting. However, choosing which candidate(s) to interview based on ClearFit™ ranking is a good place to start. Many employers find that despite appearing underqualified on paper, veterans often have the transferable skills they are looking for. An interview is a great way to discover what they offer.

Do I have to interview candidates even if I don’t have an opening?
No. The exact wording of the Guaranteed Interview Program is that your company agrees to guarantee at least one qualified veteran an interview per job postings.

How would I leave the program if it turns out to be not working?
It is simple to join and simple to leave the program. If you wish to discontinue, you remove the program logo from your online/offline assets. You send us an email letting us know that you wish to be removed from the partners list. We also send you a weekly email with a "discontinue program" link at the bottom for your convenience.

Am I expected to hire or give hiring preference to the GI candidates?
No. As always, you will hire the candidate that seems like the best fit for the position and organization.
